Endless Hallways
Inspired by the Backrooms (2026) movie, I decided to make my own
version of the famous liminal space.

Asset Creation
The project was modeled in Maya, with textures created in Photoshop.
I took Adobe Stock images of textures I liked, then used Photoshop to make them repeatable at the resolution I wanted.
Then the pieces were assembled in Unreal Engine 5.
Certain props, such as the table, chairs, and TV, were found and licensed from the Fab store.
Level Design
Because the Backrooms are supposed to be maze like, my level design was similarly hard to traverse.
The design loops around into itself several times, and with nearly all the walls, floors and ceilings being identical, this makes navigation very difficult.
During play testing, I actually found myself getting lost in my own creation while trying to find the exit.

Design Choices
I wanted the design to be as unwelcoming as possible, to mimic the effect of the Backrooms.
Within the level, there is constant bright yellow light, reflecting off of yellow wallpaper and yellow-white carpet.
The area is sparsely furnished, with the only occasional furniture being nonsensical and impractical.
There is a locked door, and finding the key allows you to pass through it. However there is no true escape.
